Engelse titel: Records of the Three Treasures Throughout the Successive Dynasties
Records of the Three Treasures is a influential catalog of the Sui Dynasty (581–618, published around 597. Neglected by most Western scholars due to “historical forgeries” committed by its author, this catalog established a new outlook on the issue of the authenticity of Buddhist texts in China. It classified all Buddhist texts according to the dynastic rulers who had sponsored their production, who were now viewed as the ultimate author- ity in deciding which texts deserved inclusion in the canon. This trend, along with several other innovations implemented in this catalog, deeply affected the Tang Dynasty’s (618–907) approach to the Tripitaka. (
